Engine Mount – Reengineered for Reliability

The engine mount is a small volume production that is produced in 25 piece lots two to three times per year. This part is 100% made in house here at Double H. We order raw material, in the case of the photo above 3/8 & 3/4 steel plate. The plates are then plasma cut in the sub-components. After the parts are cleaned, they are hand MIG welded and machined in the CNC mill to complete the job.

Note that each…

Dump Gate – Re-engineered for extended Durability

The photo above is a good example of a product that Double H provides to the cement production industry. The dump gate is used in mixing cement in preparation for use. Cooler Plate – Reengineered to Reduce Costs and Improve Consistency

This is a liquid cooled heat-sink for a diesel engine computer. It uses the diesel fuel from the engine as the cooling source while it flows through the plate. The original design from the customer was a three piece stamping that was silver soldered together and then pressure tested for leaks. This design was difficult to manufacture. The stamped parts were not flat enough and the silver soldering and the three piece design provided many…

Reengineered for Reliability

Detroit Diesel, at the time a division of GM, was producing oil inlet assemblies in house. Their part incorporated a tube with two castings, a screen and a cup. The castings would need machining, then tack welding to the tube. Next, the subassembly was silver soldered by hand. Finally, the cup and screen were bolted on. These parts were costly for the customer to produce and there were failures occurring in the field. …

We order the snap caps, aluminum tubes, and aluminum castings from the foundry, along with filter screens from stamping companies and fasteners. We then process the components in house for our customer. We…

Robotically Welded Lifter Ring – Large Production Runs with more Consistency

This is an example of one of our higher volume productions. One of our larger customers was making the part shown above in house. The job called for running 40,000 pieces per year. They were having trouble keeping up with their production schedule by hand welding each component. They came to Double H for help. Now, Double H receives the laser cut blanks and then bends and robot welds the parts together. The…
